Waubonsee Exhibits Works by Texas Photographer
Waubonsee Community College is currently hosting “American DREAM,” an exhibit of photographs by Texas artist Lupita Murillo Tinnen, through Nov. 5 in the Dickson Center’s Arrowhead Room on the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Born to Mexican immigrant parents in Texas, Murillo Tinnen was raised in the American culture but also in a culture of undocumented residents. Her work captures and explores these experiences and themes.
Murillo Tinnen earned a bachelor’s degree in photography from Texas A&M University-Commerce and a master’s degree in photography from the University of North Texas. She currently works as a professor of photography at Collin College in Plano, Texas, and serves as a board member of the Texas Photographic Society.
