Waubonsee Professor Earns Medal of Excellence

Waubonsee Community College Assistant Professor of Communications Larry Modaff, of Lisle, recently received an Excellence Award from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) at the group’s 33rd annual conference.

This is not the first time Modaff’s engaging and innovative teaching style has been recognized; Waubonsee named him its Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year in 2010.

Since becoming a full-time faculty member at Waubonsee in 1995, Modaff has taught a variety of courses, including Fundamentals of Speech Communication and Introduction to Advertising Communication, a course he developed. Modaff also helped design and develop unique software called CommuniCoach, which allows for comments to be embedded in a video. It is now used across the country in a variety of disciplines and settings.

Modaff holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in communication studies from Northern Illinois University.
