Professor to Stage Original Mary Todd Lincoln Performance
As part of its Civil War sesquicentennial series of events, Waubonsee Community College will present “Mary Todd Lincoln: Reflections on a Life of Shattered Dreams” at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 in the Auditorium of the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.waubonseetickets.com. Because all proceeds from the show will be given to the Waubonsee Community College Foundation to fund student scholarships, $20 of each ticket is tax deductible.
As written and performed by Waubonsee Professor of Theater and Communications Dr. Maria Bakalis, this one-woman show takes a compassionate look at a woman who, at the end of her life, was left with no family and no place to call home. Attendees are invited to join Bakalis at a post-show reception and discussion.
