Students Participate in Illinois Government Simulation
For four days in late February, eight Waubonsee Community College students experienced what it’s like to run the state’s government as they participated in the 33rd annual Model Illinois Government (MIG) Simulation in Springfield.
More than 200 students from 17 Illinois colleges and universities participated in the legislative simulation, filling the roles of legislators, lobbyists, journalists, attorneys, budget analysts and more.
Participating Waubonsee students included Eric Hollis and Corina Quinonez, of Plano; Hector Ibarra, of Montgomery; Peter Lentz, Jack Kielma and Kelly Garrett, of Aurora; Ryan Freer, of Yorkville; and Tim Diehl, of Batavia.
Hollis will help plan next year’s event as the elected treasurer of the 2011-2012 MIG Executive Board.
