Waubonsee to Launch Plus 50 Initiative with Free Workshops

To help individuals aged 50 and older transition to new careers, Waubonsee Community College is offering two free job-related workshops this spring. The courses are part of the college’s participation in the American Association of Community Colleges’ Plus 50 Initiative.

“Job Search Skills: Finding Work in Today’s Employment Environment” will run from 9 a.m. to noon April 15-19 at the college’s Aurora Campus, 18 S. River St. In addition to the usual résumé, cover letter and interview advice, participants will also learn how to translate their prior experience into relevant job skills and how to present themselves as a candidate who is up-to-date with current industry trends.

“Job Success Skills: What Do Employers Really Want?” helps participants answer that all-important question and teaches them to lead with those skills as they conduct their job searches. It will meet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 6-10 at the Aurora Campus.
