Weiss Appointed Full-Time Earth Science/Geography Instructor

The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees appointed Alfred Weiss to the position of full-time earth science/geography instructor at their meeting June 20. The appointment is effective Aug. 15, 2012.

Weiss earned bachelor’s degrees in geography and English from Southern Illinois University (SIU) and would later earn a master’s degree in geography from SIU. He has also completed 33 hours of graduate-level work in geographic information systems (GIS) at Northern Illinois University.

Weiss brings a wealth of professional and teaching experience to his new role. He previously worked at the Village of Hoffman Estates as Geographic Information Specialist, where he created and maintained the village’s GIS database. At Waubonsee, Weiss developed the college’s GIS curriculum and taught as an adjunct instructor in that field since 2003. In addition, Weiss taught earth science and geography courses for Waubonsee and geography courses for Harper College.
