Welcome to the Waubonsee Peer Support Program

Our goal in developing the Waubonsee Peer Support Program is to empower students, enhance a sense of belonging, and promote an inclusive community that supports each other's mental health, unique identity and improves wellness in our daily lives.

What is a Waubonsee Peer Support Leader?

Peer Support Leaders are trained and certified in peer mentorship and mental health support but are not licensed mental health professionals.

Peer Support Leaders are students who have a passion for supporting their peers. They are trained to provide basic mental health and wellness support and peer mentorship. They can meet by appointment or during drop-in hours.

Meet with a Peer Support Leader

Our Peer Support Leaders are trained in stress management techniques and can also point you toward additional resources if needed. They work closely with the Waubonsee Counselors.

So if you’re struggling or need someone to talk to, reach out to peersupport@waubonsee.edu or give us a call at (630) 466-2361 to schedule an appointment. We’re here to help you succeed!

Students, join us on Canvas!

Testimonials

Jorge Corea

"I think the Peer Support Program is vital in our effort to foster well-being and connection in our community, especially among minorities who feel more comfortable talking to someone who they can relate with. It's exciting to see the potential effects and help this program can bring and be a big part of this."

Ireri Miranda-Gonzalez

“I am so excited for this program to launch; I have enjoyed all our training, and I can't wait for students and faculty to check our canvas page. I am so happy and thankful for being part of this new program here at Waubonsee. I am sure the Peer Support Program would help many students and connect our Waubonsee community even more!”

Joshua Petry

"The Peer Support Program is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage one-on-one with trained peers who know what the struggles of college life are like today, and there's no better time than now at the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Month to launch the program! I'm excited to meet with my fellow students, and I can't wait to dive into what the program has to offer them!"
