Steps to Getting Started at Waubonsee.
ADMISSION INFORMATION

Waubonsee welcomes all students who can benefit from the courses and programs we offer. Below you’ll find some checklists to help you get started here. The steps you’ll take depend on the kind of classes you want to enroll in and what your educational goals are.

EFFECTIVE FALL 2008 – New students who have never attended Waubonsee before are required to complete the New Student Information Form.

NEW NONCREDIT STUDENT

Students interested in Community Education or Workforce Development courses should complete page 3 of the New Student Information Form and sign at the bottom of page 4. New noncredit students may register at the same time they submit the form.

 

NEW CREDIT STUDENT (full-time and/or degree-seeking)

Use this checklist if you are . . .

  1. Complete and submit the New Student Information Form
  2. Schedule an appointment with the Center for Learning Assessment for placement testing.  Click here to schedule your appointment or call (630) 466-7900, ext. 5700.

    All new full-time and/or degree-seeking students are required to test in the areas of English, mathematics and reading unless they meet one of the following alternate placement testing requirements:
  • Successfully completed college-level coursework in the areas of math and/or English
  • Received a specific minimum ACT score in English, reading and mathematics
  • Completed placement testing at another college or university and have an approved Alternate Placement Testing Review on file with Learning Assessment.

    If you meet one of the alternate placement testing requirements listed above, schedule an appointment with a counselor before placement testing or a RAP session.  Call Counseling and Advising at (630) 466-7900, ext. 2361.
  1. Schedule an appointment for Registration and Planning (RAP).

  1. Full or partial payment is due at the time of registration.

NEW CREDIT STUDENT (part-time and/or not seeking a degree)

Use this checklist if you are...

  • enrolling part-time (fewer than 12 credit hours)
  • don’t meet any criteria for “new full-time and/or degree-seeking student.”
  1. Complete and submit the New Student Information Form.

  2. If you plan to take English or math courses, schedule an appointment with the Center for Learning Assessment for placement testing.  Schedule your appointment or call (630) 466-7900, ext. 5700.

    Students who meet one of the alternate placement testing requirements listed above for “New Full-Time and/or Degree-Seeking Students”should schedule an appointment with a counselor.  Call Counseling and Advising at (630) 466-7900, ext. 2361.
  1. Meet with a counselor prior to registering.  Call (630) 466-7900, ext. 2361.
  2. Register for courses in person, by mail, or by fax.
  3. Full or partial payment is due at the time of registration.

Just Ask Counseling

If you’re not sure who to ask or where to go, call Waubonsee’s Counseling and Advising Center.  They can help you find answers to just about any question you may have about college life.

 
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Current high school students 16 years of age or older will be permitted to enroll in credit courses for which they have met the prerequisites. Students must submit written authorization from their designated high school official noting course(s) to be taken and if course(s) will be used to meet high school requirements.   For more information, contact Admissions and Records, (630) 466-7900, ext. 2370.

Enrollment is limited to 7 credit hours per semester.  Students who are also participating in dual enrollment programs may petition for an enrollment overload.

High school students younger than 16 years of age may be admitted to a credit course with the prior approval of the Dean for Enrollment Management and Student Life.  Letters of recommendation, transcripts and placement testing may also be required.  For more information, contact the office of the Dean for Enrollment Management and Student Life at (630) 466-7900, ext. 2969.
