Waubonsee’s Music Faculty Inspires Students

This time of the year is filled with sights, smells and sounds that are unique to the holiday season. These sensory experiences often cause us to wax sentimental; to reflect on things past and look forward to things ahead. Waubonsee Community College’s music department contributes to these moments through its series of holiday concerts.

Waubonsee Community College Board Meeting Rescheduled

The December meeting of the Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees has been rescheduled for Dec. 18 at 4:30 p.m. in the Dickson Center Community Board Room on the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive.

Waubonsee Community College Policy Committee Meeting Scheduled

The Policy Committee of the Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees will meet Monday, Dec. 18 at 3:30 p.m. in the Dickson Center Community Board Room on the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive.

Water Boil Order Lifted at Sugar Grove Campus

The water boil order at the Sugar Grove Campus has been lifted. Tests conducted by the Illinois Department of Public Health have confirmed that the water is safe for consumption.

Sugar Grove Campus Will Resume Normal Operations on Thursday, December 14

The repair work on the broken water main on the Sugar Grove Campus is complete. The college will resume classes and all other normal operations in Sugar Grove on Thursday, December 14. Students, faculty, and staff are to proceed with final examinations and any other remaining coursework as planned.

Due to the water disruption, a boil order will be in effect on the Sugar Grove Campus until further notice. Individuals will not be able to get drinking water from fountains or sinks. The café in the Student Center is expected to be open for regular operating hours, though with some limitations. Bottled water will be available for purchase.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while crews from Campus Operations, the contracted repair company, and the Sugar Grove Fire Department among others have worked diligently to repair the break and get the college back to its mission of teaching.

Waubonsee Community College Board Meeting Cancelled

The regularly scheduled December meeting of the Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees has been cancelled. The meeting was scheduled for Dec. 13 at 5:30 p.m. on the Sugar Grove Campus.

UPDATE ON WATER MAIN BREAK AT SUGAR GROVE CAMPUS

While the repair work on the broken water main is going well at this point, all classes and activities scheduled for the evening of Dec. 13 have been cancelled to allow the work to proceed and to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff.

Students impacted by these cancellations will hear from their instructors with specific guidance on how their final examinations or other remaining course work will proceed. Faculty members will determine the best approach for serving the needs of their classes, while meeting the requirements of the end of the semester.

We anticipate that the Sugar Grove Campus will return to normal operations and schedules on Thursday, Dec. 14. If there are any changes to that, updates will be posted on the college website and social media platforms by 5:00 a.m.

We understand the frustrations that this causes and we appreciate your ongoing patience as we work through this.

Again, these cancellations only apply to the Sugar Grove Campus. All other classes and activities at other campuses will continue as scheduled.

INFORMATION ABOUT FINAL EXAMS AT SUGAR GROVE CAMPUS

Late last night a water main broke forcing the college to cancel all scheduled day classes and activities at the Sugar Grove Campus. Obviously, any disruption to campus operations is inconvenient to students, staff and faculty. We understand that the inconvenience, and frustration, is even greater when the disruption happens during the week of final examinations, as this one has.

Students have, or soon will, hear from their instructors with specific guidance on how their final examinations or other remaining course work will proceed. Because of the wide variety of classes on the Sugar Grove Campus and the fact that we are at the end of the semester, faculty members will determine the best approach for serving the needs of their classes.

Again, these cancellations only apply to the Sugar Grove Campus and, at this time, only apply to classes and activities scheduled for the day. Evening classes are currently scheduled to proceed as normal. Any changes to that schedule will be posted on the college website and social media platforms.

Sugar Grove Campus Closed Due to Water Main Break

Due to a water main break, the Sugar Grove Campus will be closed during the day on Wednesday, December 13. All classes and other campus activities are cancelled. Students, faculty and staff are to not come to the campus during the day.
