Waubonsee has a lot to offer geology students. This starts with the modern, state-of-the-art facilities found in our Science Building labs. Our students have access to museum-quality collections of rocks, minerals and fossils. In addition, students use a variety of software packages to help them understand topics such as plate tectonics.

Waubonsee is one of approximately 20 U.S. colleges and universities that are educational partners of the Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS).  Our AS-1 seismograph records seismic activity around the world and transmits data to IRIS. We are recognized locally for the quality of our courses and our faculty. In fact, Chicagoland television stations often look to Associate Professor of Earth Science/Geology Dave Voorhees when they need an on-camera earthquake expert; he most recently appeared on ABC 7 News in March 2011 to talk about the earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan.
