Waubonsee Community College Executive Vice President of Finance and Operations, David Quillen, will retire effective May 31.
Quillen started working at Waubonsee in March 2006 as the Vice President of Finance and Operations and College Treasurer. He became the Executive Vice President of Finance and Operations in July 2012.
Quillen guided the college to an improved financial position, including achieving an AA+ bond rating from Moody’s. The college also earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) every year that Quillen has been at the college.
Under his leadership, the college took several transformative steps of improvement such as converting its Public Safety Department into Campus Police with armed officers and combining Campus Safety with Campus Operations to streamline processes and increase operational efficiency.
Quillen will be replaced by Douglas Minter. Minter previously worked at Heartland Community College. His appointment to the position was approved by the Waubonsee Board of Trustees at their April meeting. He assumed the duties of Vice President of Finance and Administration on May 18.
