Studying Emergency Medical Technology at Waubonsee

Waubonsee's nationally accredited EMT programs encourages students to develop a superior level of emergency medical care through a curriculum led by a highly-trained team of instructors who are professionals in the field of emergency medicine. Didactic lectures, hands-on labs, and emergency room clinical observations provide students with simulated and real-word experience of the roles EMTs play as critical members of the healthcare community.

The EMT-Basic Certificate prepares students to take the Illinois State Licensing Exam or the National Registry Exam for state certification through the Illinois Department of Public Health. EMT-Basic has specific admission requirements.

After getting certified, and for those already certified as an EMT-B, Waubonsee offers EMT-Paramedic training through a collaboration with Southern Fox Valley Emergency Medical Services and Northwestern Medicine-Delnor Hospital. The 12-month EMT-Paramedic Program offers Certificate and AAS Degree options and has a special application process.

For more information about each program option and which might be best for you, view the current EMT-Basic Student Handbook and EMT-Paramedic Student Handbook.
