Black History Month - February

Black History Month celebrates the contributions that African Americans have made to American history in their struggles for freedom and equality and deepens our understanding of our Nation's history.

Latinx Heritage Month/Hispanic Serving Institution Week - Sept./Oct.

The Latinx Heritage Month, Hispanic-Serving Institution’s week committee goal is to promote, celebrate, educate, and raise awareness about Latinx heritage and honor the impact and influence that Latinx culture has had on American society. Our celebrations take place each year between September 15 and October 15.

Native American Heritage Month - November

November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. Heritage Month is also an opportune time to educate the general public about tribes, to raise general awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.

Join us for these 2020 events:

Film Showing: Like Birds in a Windstorm
Join film director and writer Susan Green in the viewing of her movie, Like Birds in a Windstorm. This film is about Potawatomi descendants of forced removal in 1838 who retrace the trail of their ancestors and discover unexpected receptions along the way.

Wednesday's showing will be followed by a live Q&A with Ms. Green.
