Working means savings on tuition

There are two kinds of student work offered through Waubonsee - Student Worker and Federal Work-Study.  Student Worker jobs do not require the completion for the FAFSA.

Federal Work-Study jobs are available, on-campus and off-campus, only to students who file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and show financial need by completing the financial aid process. Off campus jobs are with both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.  These job opportunities put money in your pocket in the form of wages and can provide funding toward your tuition, fees, books and other expenses.  Being a Federal Work-Study student, gives you a connection to the community and a great way to build your resume with all the benefits of a flexible schedule that works around your school obligations.

Qualifying and Earning

To qualify for a Federal Work-Study job you must complete the FAFSA every award year and meet all financial aid eligibility requirements, including enrollment in at least 1 credit hour in the fall/spring/summer semesters in an eligible degree or certificate program. Federal Work-Study awards are based on financial need, as determined by the FAFSA.

Hourly starting pay for on campus jobs is $14.00/hour and total earnings are limited to the amount awarded. Off campus jobs may offer a higher range of pay. Federal Work-Study students may not work more than 25 hours per week and cannot work during times they are scheduled to be in class.

For further questions regarding financial aid, contact Waubonsee's Financial Aid Office at (630) 466-5774financialaid@waubonsee.edu, or in person at one of our four campuses. Our supportive staff will help facilitate the application process of determining qualifications, researching availability and assessing the best financial aid solution for you.
