Ineligible Academic Programs

Because more than 50% of the credits awarded for the following AAS programs are the result of on-the-job training provided by local unions, these programs do not meet U.S. Department of Education requirements for financial aid eligibility:
  • Construction Technology Professional
  • Construction Electrician

In order to meet U.S. Department of Education standards for the financial aid eligibility, courses must be at least at the high school level academically and be included as part of the curriculum for an associate degree or Certificate of Achievement. Certificates must be at least 16 credit hours and prepare the student for gainful employment to qualify for financial aid. Noncredit courses and programs are also not eligible for financial aid.

Students must enroll in at least 6 credits or eligible courses to receive a loan.

The following courses and certificates do not qualify for financial aid:

  • AVP - all courses
  • CTB - all courses
  • ENG 050
  • ETP 055
  • ETP 057
  • ETP 059
  • MTH 050
  • NAS 101
  • NUR 100
  • PBT 105
  • PBT 297
  • PCT 200
  • PCT 297
  • RDG 050

The following certificates are under 16 credit hours or do not prepare the student for gainful employment so do NOT qualify for financial aid. Please note that while less than 16 credit certificates do not qualify, there may be a related certificate of greater length within the same discipline that does qualify for aid.
