Student Center

Groundbreaking: February 2007
Opened: January 2009
Location: central part of the Sugar Grove Campus
Size: 58,000 square feet
Cost: $17 million
Highlights: Designed to be both the literal and figurative heart of the college's main campus, this "one-stop shop" centralizes many of the college's most vital student services in one building. Departments housed here include Admissions, Registration and Records, Financial Aid, Counseling, Bursar Office, Center for Learning Assessment, Access Center for Disability Resources, Student Support Services, Career Services, Student Life, and the Cafe and Coffee Bar.
Reflection: "I am most excited to see that students now have one place to come together and form lifelong connections, with each other and the college. Having a strong foundation of support, from staff, faculty and their peers, is an important element in student success."
- Faith LaShure, Dean for Enrollment Management

Student leaders symbolically built the foundation of the new Student Center with bricks representing the college's five core values of Service, Quality, Accessibility, Value and Innovation at the groundbreaking ceremony in February 2007. The Student Center goes up south of Collins Hall and east of the Ceramics Building in June 2007. Students put their orders in at the grill station in the building's Café and Coffee Bar area. Just as the columns outside the APC welcome visitors to the north side, the columns outside the Student Center do the same for the campus' south side. The north end of the Student Center faces the center of campus, rounding out the scenic "quad" area.
