What are CLEP exams?
  • CLEP examinations cover material that is taught in introductory level courses at many colleges and universities.

How do I prepare for the CLEP exam?

“The Official Handbook for CLEP Examinations” is available at the Todd Library reserve desk and the campus bookstores. This book contains sample questions and a suggested bibliography for all CLEP examinations.

How do I make an appointment for a CLEP test?
  • To make an appointment for a CLEP test, go to the Center for Learning Assessment in Collins Hall, Room 137, to fill out the registration form. If you have questions about this process, please call (630) 466-7900, ext. 5700.
  • At the time the appointment is scheduled there is a non-refundable $15.00 registration fee due. Please pay with cash or check.
  • Effective July 1, 2008, there is a $70.00 fee charged per test that must be paid by check or by credit card. We do not accept cash for this fee.
  • No more than 2 CLEP tests may be taken in one day.

WHAT FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION DO I NEED TO TAKE A CLEP EXAM?

CLEP requires you to present two forms of identification for testing.
First, you must present a government-issued photo ID card such as:

  • A current driver’s license
  • A current state or federal ID card
  • A current passport
  • A tribal ID card
  • A naturalization card or certificate of citizenship

Second, you must present an ID with a photo and/or signature such as:

  • A current employee ID
  • A current student ID
  • A Social Security card
  • A military ID

All funded military candidates must present a current military ID and a second form of government-issued photo ID.

Can I take the exam at Waubonsee and have my scores sent to another school?
  • Yes, Waubonsee Community College is a national test center. Scores can be sent to the institution of your choice.
  • Each institution has its own CLEP policies. Contact the appropriate institution for the most up to date information.

NOTES:
Allow yourself adequate time to complete your testing. You will not be allowed to begin an exam during the last 30 minutes that the testing center is open.

A photo ID is required for all testing!

Students taking a CLEP examination must provide two forms of identification. Please refer to CLEP TESTING for further information.
