Sugar Grove – Waubonsee Community College Assistant Professor of Art/Ceramics Doug Jeppesen, of Sugar Grove, recently had a platter in the “Shino Redux 2010” exhibit at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester, N.Y. The national exhibition featured works by 74 clay artists utilizing “shino,” a family of pottery glazes that originated in Japan in the 16th century.
Waubonsee offers a variety of ceramics courses in its 10,000-square-foot ceramics studio. The college’s Sugar Grove Campus houses three wood-fire kilns, as well as outdoor wood/salt and soda kilns. |
