Hastert to Offer Leadership Course
Sugar Grove – Next month students from three local community colleges will once again get a chance to learn about government from Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives J. Dennis Hastert and other local leaders as part of a class sponsored by Waubonsee Community College and the office of Former Speaker Hastert. For the second straight year, “Special Topics for Social Science: Hastert Leadership Series” will meet Mondays in April at Former Speaker Hastert’s Yorkville office. Students from Waubonsee, Kishwaukee College and Joliet Junior College with a demonstrated interest in government are being invited to enroll in the half-credit course at no cost.

Hastert and representatives from local, county, state and federal government will discuss campaigns, policy, legislation and negotiations as they apply to all levels of government.

“This course demonstrates Speaker Hastert’s vision to encourage, mentor and cultivate future leaders for our region, state and country,” said Jane Regnier, Waubonsee’s assistant vice president of program development and distance learning. “It also demonstrates Waubonsee’s institutional commitment to providing innovative educational opportunities for district residents.”
