College Receives National Marketing Awards
Sugar Grove — The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) awarded Waubonsee Community College two Paragon awards for its work in 2009. This is in addition to the five awards Waubonsee recently received in the 25th Annual Educational Advertising Awards competition, sponsored by the Higher Education Marketing Report.

Waubonsee received a Gold Paragon in the Brand Experience Implementation category for the interior branding of the college’s new Student Center and a Silver Paragon for its Student Center Grand Opening invitation at the NCMPR National Conference, which took place March 14-17 in Albuquerque, N.M. Communications/Event Coordinator Linda Haugen accepted the awards on behalf of the college and also co-presented on special event marketing at the conference with Director of Marketing and Communications Jeff Noblitt. The college competed against more than 1,700 entries from two-year institutions nationwide. NCMPR has more than 1,500 members from more than 600 colleges across the United States, Canada and the Bahamas.

Waubonsee won a Gold Educational Advertising Award for the college’s spring 2009 credit schedule in the class schedule category and three bronzes for the “Where Futures Take Shape” television commercial series, the Learning First! student newsletter and the 2009 Report to the Community. Waubonsee also received a merit award for the “Start Shaping Your Future” brochure.

The Educational Advertising Awards is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. This year, more than 2,000 entries were received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries. A national panel of educational marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals, and the editorial board of Higher Education Marketing Report judged the Higher Education Advertising Awards.
