The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of Roger T. Harris from the board at its previously scheduled special meeting on January 31.

Harris was seated on the Board of Trustees in April 2017. Prior to that, he served on the Waubonsee Community College Foundation Board since September 2011. Harris, currently of Geneva, has begun the process of becoming a Florida resident. Because he will not reside within the college’s district, he will no longer be eligible to serve on the board.

Harris has been the owner, President and CEO of Producers Chemical Company in Sugar Grove. He has also served as a member and chairman of the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD), the president of the NACD Central Region and the chairman of the Government Affairs Committee for the NACD.

Harris has demonstrated his strong commitment to the community by serving on several civic boards, in addition to the Waubonsee Board of Trustees. He has served as a board member for Delnor Community Health System, Cadence Health System and Northwestern Health System, as well as on the Northwestern Memorial West Region Board of Directors. He also served as a member and president of the Geneva Lions Club and the Batavia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

In accordance with Illinois law, the board will appoint a trustee to fill the vacant seat within 60 days.

Waubonsee is grateful to Mr. Harris for his years of service to the college and to the community and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
