Waubonsee Students Recognized at Writers Competition and Festival

Waubonsee students participated in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Writers Competition and Festival held in November at Prairie State College. The students were recognized for their works in several different categories.

-   Sabrina Szigeti earned second place in the nonfiction category for her work, “My Piece of Shit Car.”

-   Bridget Butler earned third place in the poetry category for her work, “Uncommon Feeling.”

-   Alison Brackett earned third place in the fiction category for her work, “Sciamachy.”

-   Casey Kirk received Honorable Mention in the drama category for his work, “A Guy Walks Into a Bar.”

Waubonsee offers an associate degree with a concentration in English. Waubonsee students interested in creative writing have many opportunities to explore the field, such as writing for and editing Waubonsee’s annual literary journal, Horizons.
