After losing four straight matches over the weekend at the highly touted Des Moines Area Community College Invite in Iowa, Waubonsee Community College’s volleyball team rebounded in their final Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) match of the season. The Chiefs snapped their 4-game losing streak by rolling over Moraine Valley Community College in three straight sets. Waubonsee (21-11) downed the Cyclones 25-12, 25-18 and 25-17 to finish second in the ISCC standings with a 4-1 mark.

Sophomore Anna Senese paced the Chiefs’ attack with nine kills and nine digs. Kayla Battle added seven kills and four solo blocks, increasing her team-leading total to 81. Natalie Jones chipped in with a dozen assists, 10 digs and three serving aces. Chelsey Ellen recorded seven kills, Hollie Fedderly tallied 17 assists and Ashley Deichmueller pitched in with 16 digs in the winning cause.

Waubonsee’s next match will be this coming Thursday, October 12, when they host nationally-ranked Sauk Valley Community College in their final regular season home game. The Skyhawks (23-4) will enter Erickson Hall ranked eighth nationally in the latest NJCAA Division II poll. The match is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. CDT and can be seen ‘live’ on-line at or locally on cable television. Check with your local cable provider for the channel in your area.
