Waubonsee Community College’s women’s basketball team began defense of their Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) crown by pounding visiting Elgin Community College 78-42. The Chiefs began to pull away in the second quarter and headed to the locker room with a 32-18 advantage as the Spartans committed 17 first half turnovers. Waubonsee then broke the game open in the third quarter with a 17-2 run to grab a 49-20 lead with four minutes left in the period.  The Spartans then connected on nine of ten free throws to close out the third quarter trailing 54-29. Waubonsee extended that lead in the fourth quarter, eventually grabbing its biggest lead at 74-34 with four minutes to go. Waubonsee finished with 24 assists on 34 made baskets, while forcing the Spartans (3-10) into 28 turnovers.

Alexis VanWhye booked 18 points and eight assists, while Teseandra Parker also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards to go along with four steals and three assists. Aynia McGowan chipped in with 13 points and five assists, and Hailee Villa contributed eight points and three steals.
