Waubonsee stumbled in their opening match of the Chiefs' Invitational Tournament, letting Black Hawk College rally to win in five games. The Chiefs took the first two games by scores of 25-17 and 25-20, seemingly taking a commanding lead into the third game. Black Hawk rebounded to win game three 25-18 and then won a nail-biting fourth game 27-25 to force a fifth and final game. The Braves, just 1-7 on the season entering the match, completed the upset by taking the fifth game 15-11. Haley Koziol led Waubonsee with 16 kills, 12 digs and four aces. Rachel Lape added 27 assists, four aces and 13 digs. Mallory Jones tallied 11 kills to go along with 14 digs, while Alexandra Cox registered eight kills and four blocks. Payton Orzech chipped in with 10 kills, Brittany Grider booked 26 digs, Hollie Fedderly was credited with 15 assists, and Chelsey Ellen contributed 12 digs.

The Chiefs (11-5) rebounded later in the day to win in three straight games over South Suburban College, 25-11, 25-20 and 25-13. Cox booked 12 more kills and had three blocks, while Koziol added seven kills, 13 digs and six aces. Lape contributed 24 assists, Vanessa Melendez tallied 18 digs, Ellen recorded 10 kills, and Fedderly added a dozen assists.
