Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (hosted by Oakton Community College)
Chiefs win fourth straight conference match, clinch back-to-back ISCC titles
Opponent: ISCC Match #4
Score: 305 (1st place)
Waubonsee's golfers clinched the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) title by winning their fourth straight conference match. With just one ISCC match remaining and four points awarded for first place at each conference match, the Chiefs hold an insurmountable five point lead over second place Oakton Community College 16-11. Waubonsee is the host school for the final ISCC match, which is set for Wednesday, September 28, at Blackberry Oaks Golf Course in nearby Bristol. The 2016 Chiefs look to become the first team since Waubonsee's 2001 squad to take first place at every ISCC match in a single season.
In winning the ISCC championship for the second straight year, Head Coach Dave Heiss' crew fired a team total of 305 to finish 12 strokes better and Oakton and 13 shots ahead of Moraine Valley Community College. The Chiefs' Jacob Cook tied for medalist honors, shooting a 4-over par 74 at the Sportsman's Country Club Golf Course in Northbrook. The sophomore from DeKalb High School carded a 38 on the front nine, one shot off the lead at the turn. The left-hander finished with a 36 on the back nine to tie Moraine's Connor Lille atop the leaderboard. With the help of Assistant Coach Rodney Davis, Waubonsee's Ram Rogue and Ben Melms were both just one shot back of the leaders, each finishing with a 75 after carding a 38 on the back nine holes. Jesse Denton and Jackson Clark each finished the day with an 81, while Waubonsee's Jacob Sanders carded a 79 participating as an individual.
