Opponent: ISCC Match #2
Score: 305 (1st)
(Elgin, IL.) – After a torrential downpour delayed the start, Waubonsee Community College’s golfers swamped the competition at the Highlands of Elgin Golf Course. Soggy conditions, high heat and humidity did not seem to bother the Chiefs. Waubonsee finished with a team score of 305, a whopping 27 strokes ahead of second place Oakton Community College, to easily take the top spot in the second Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference match of the season. Moraine Valley Community College, the College of Lake County and the host school Elgin Community College all finished well off the pace.
Freshman Ramir Rogue took medalist honors by carding a one-over par 73, firing a 35 on the front nine holes. DeKalb High School alumnus Jacob Cook and Marmion Academy graduate Jackson Clark each posted a 78, while freshman Ben Melms was one stroke behind them with a 79 to round out Waubonsee’s score. The Chiefs’ Jesse Denton turned in an 83 and Jacob Sanders finished with a 92 while competing as an independent.
