Triton College raced out to a big lead early on and held off the Chiefs to grab an 84-75 victory in River Grove. The Trojans were firing on all cylinders in the first period as they built a 23-10 lead. They added to their advantage in the second quarter, heading to the locker room with a comfortable 40-21 lead. Waubonsee chipped away at the deficit and trailed by 10 points (56-46) entering the fourth quarter. Triton (2-0) then held off Waubonsee (1-2) down the stretch to hang on to win.

For the game Waubonsee shot 38 percent (30 of 79) from the field, including only 25 percent (5 of 20) from three-point territory. Meanwhile the Trojans connected on 55 percent (36 of 66) of their shots overall and owned a 43-33 advantage on the boards. Waubonsee was led in scoring by Lauren Goff who netted 20 points, making four of the Chiefs' five treys in the game. Alexis VanWhye posted her first collegiate double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. In an all-around performance Teseandra Parker tallied 11 points, handed out five assists, grabbed eight rebounds and made four steals. Mozelle Kempiak and Libby Love each booked 10 points, and Dajashina Clark hauled down six boards. Triton was led by Taylor Pate's double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds.
