Chiefs take over sole possession of first place in the ISCC with solid win over Morton

Waubonsee took over sole possession of first place in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference standings with a 73-59 victory over Morton College. The Chiefs (13-7, 5-0) led the entire way and kept the Panthers (8-12, 4-1) at bay throughout the contest. Waubonsee led by as many as 11 points in the first half before heading to the locker room with a 35-30 halftime lead. The Chiefs owned a 30-13 to rebounding advantage, to offset the Panthers shooting 50 percent (13 of 26) in the first half. Waubonsee then grabbed its biggest lead of the game in the third quarter when a 14-4 run put them in front 49-34. Morton got no closer than nine points the rest of the way, and finished with 26 turnovers for the game.
Jenae Rowe came off the bench to lead Waubonsee in scoring with 20 points to go along with snagging a dozen rebounds, her second straight game booking a double-double in points and rebounds. Julianna Wadsworth also tallied a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while also handing out three assists and making three steals despite playing much of the second half with four fouls. Point guard Coreisha Bailey once again turned in an all-around performance with 16 points, six assists and four steals. Libby Love chipped in with 10 points, four steals and three assists, and Elizabeth Skaggs contributed nine points and six boards. Tyisha Worthy paced Morton with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
