Waubonsee Community College’s defensive pressure proved to be too much to handle for visiting Moraine Valley Community College. The Chiefs (12-7, 4-0) forced the Cyclones into 40 turnovers en route to posting an 88-63 victory to stay atop the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference standings. Moraine Valley (10-6, 3-1) shot 55 percent from the floor in the first half, yet still trailed 42-32 at the break because they committed 25 turnovers in the first twenty minutes of play. Waubonsee extended its lead to 18 (63-45) at the end of the third quarter and never looked back.
Julianna Wadsworth continued her hot streak, scoring 23 points, recording seven steals and handing out five assists. After being sidelined for a month with a broken bone in her hand, Wadsworth has registered 107 points, 28 steals, 25 assists and 22 rebounds in just the last four games. Jenae Rowe came off the bench to book a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Libby Love connected on a trio of three-pointers on her way to tallying 18 points and dishing out six assists, while point guard Coreisha Bailey chipped in with 17 points, eight assists and six steals. Moraine Valley’s Erin Drynan and Michelle Borgen each scored 14 points and both grabbed 11 rebounds in a losing effort.
