Chiefs come out flat to begin second half of season, fall to Elmhurst's JV's to drop to 8-7 overall

Waubonsee went cold in the second half as Elmhurst College's Junior Varsity rallied in the fourth quarter to steal a 60-53 win in Erickson Hall. The Chiefs appeared as though they were going to begin the 2016 portion of their schedule with a one-sided victory. Despite struggling offensively in the early going Waubonsee still led by seven after holding the Bluejays to just three points in the first quarter. Elmhurst then got on track in the second quarter outscoring the Chiefs 24-16 to grab a 27-26 halftime lead. Waubonsee took control in the third period, grabbing its' biggest lead at 41-33 with three minutes to go before eventually entering the final 10 minutes of play ahead 43-38. However, the Bluejays again responded and held Waubonsee to just 10 fourth quarter points as they pulled away.
The game was tied three times and the lead changed hands 13 times overall. With just six players in uniform for the Chiefs, Elmhurst's bench out was able to take advantage and out score Waubonsee's lone substitute 25-4. Libby Love led the Chiefs in scoring with 16 points and three steals. Coreisha Bailey nearly posted a triple-double as she scored 12 points, handed out 10 assists and grabbed eight rebounds. Elizabeth Skaggs added 10 points, Tynia Flores snagged eight boards and Jewel Hupe hauled down seven rebounds in the loss. Kalia Summerlin and Julia Madrid each tallied 16 points to pace Elmhurst.
