Sauk Valley heats up in the second half to hand Chiefs their fourth straight loss

Sauk Valley shot over 50 percent in the second half and held on to beat the Chiefs 85-75 in Dixon. Waubonsee held a slim 34-32 lead at halftime as the Skyhawks (7-1) struggled from three-point range, going just 2 for 15 (13 percent) in the first period. However, the second half was a different story as Sauk Valley made 8 of 16 (50 percent) from long range and 15 of 29 (52 percent) overall from the field. The Skyhawks also made 15 free throws in the second half along, while Waubonsee only had 15 attempts from the charity stripe the entire game. For the contest Sauk Valley owned a 21-9 advantage in points from the foul line.
Chris Buckley led the Chiefs (3-5) with 20 points, eight rebounds and three steals, while Sammie Hines added 16 points and eight boards. Oswego natives Ryan Sharp and Mika Hopkins each booked 11 points, Elliot McGaughy recorded five steals and three assists, and Chris Bryson chipped in with eight points and handed out five assists.
