Chiefs fall to Benedictine's JV's in overtime
Opponent: Chiefs at Eagles
86 - 96 (L) OT
Waubonsee ran out of gas in overtime as Benedictine University's Junior Varsity claimed a 96-86 victory in Lisle. The Eagles owned a huge advantage from the foul line, making 39 of 45 (87 percent) free throw attemtps, while the Chiefs (3-3) went just 13 of 23 (57 percent) from the charity stripe. Benedictine led 35-29 at the intermission before a high-scoring second half resulted in a 80-all tie at the end of regulation. The Eagles then out scored Waubonsee 16-6 in the extra session as they connected on all seven of their free throw attempts in overtime. Waubonsee won the rebounding battle for the game 44-27 as Benedictine failed to get a single rebound in the overtime period. The Chiefs also shot 61 percent (36 of 59) from the floor for the contest, but that mattered very little in the end as the Eagles made a dozen three-point baskets compared to just one for the Chiefs.
Sammie Hines led Waubonsee with a double-double, scoring a collegiate career high 26 points and snagging 14 rebounds. Point guard Chris Bryson booked 18 points, handed out four assists and made three steals. Naiem Johnson added 17 points, four assists and four steals, while Chris Buckley registered five steals and Elliot McGaughy dished out six assists in the loss.
