Chiefs stifle Judson from start to finish, earn first win of the season

Waubonsee secured its first win of the season by trouncing the Judson University Junior Varsity 92-44. The Chiefs (1-1) raced out to a 15-2 lead early in the game and played smothering defense throughout the game, forcing the Eagles (1-3) into 27 turnovers. Waubonsee shot 59 percent (19 of 32) in the first half while limiting Judson to just 16 percent (5 of 31) on the way to grabbing a 46-18 halftime lead. Waubonsee pushed the tempo of the game from start to finish, out rebounding Judson 52-33 along the way. Elliot McGaughy paced the Chiefs with 15 points, five assists and six rebounds. Waubonsee had four other players in double-digits in scoring as well. Omar Hernandez booked a dozen points and snagged eight rebounds. Sammie Hines chipped in with 11 points and six boards, while Marseasn Ross contributed 10 points off the bench. Chris Bryson added 10 points, handed out six assists and made three steals. Alec Goetz tallied nine points and dished out six assists, Darren Hall added nine points, and John Stark blocked four shots for Waubonsee.
