ISCC Tournament Championship
Lady Chiefs make adjustment, capture ISCC Volleyball Championship for first time ever
Opponent: McHenry County College
26 - 24 (W)
25 - 16 (W)
25 - 14 (W)
After a close first game, Waubonsee head coach Steve Kish made a strategic adjustment and his Lady Chiefs ran away from McHenry County College to capture the outright Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference title for the first time in school history. Waubonsee held on for a 26-24 victory in the opener before Kish changed things up defensively. The Lady Chiefs then took game two 25-16 and game three 25-14 to win the ISCC Tournament title match three games to none. Kaitlyn Richter led Waubonsee's championship clinching effort by recording seven kills, 11 digs and three blocks. Erin Bowe added 12 kills and three blocks, while Allison Humes booked eight kills and four blocks. Ellie Martin tallied 24 assists and 10 digs, and Faith Montalbano chipped in with four blocks as Waubonsee registered 16 blocks total for the match.
Waubonsee, which improved to 31-13 overall on the season, went a perfect 10-0 in ISCC matches. The Lady Chiefs lost only one game in conference play all season, losing to Moraine Valley 25-23 in the second game of their match on Oct. 7. Waubonsee made amends for the loss of that single game 10 days later by knocking off the Cyclones in three straight games in a non-conference battle at the Rock Valley Invite. Overall in 10 ISCC matches, the Lady Chiefs tallied 775 points to just 486 points for their opponents.
