Waubonsee downed Oakton Community College in three straight games to finish the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference slate undefeated for the first time ever. The Lady Chiefs (28-13) capped off sophomore night by winning 25-12, 25-21 and 25-20 to complete a 7-0 run through the conference and clinch their first ever regular season ISCC title. Waubonsee will be the top-seed and odds on favorite in the upcoming ISCC Tournament with a good chance to win the ISCC volleyball title outright for the first time in school history.
After recognizing and honoring his sophomore laden squad in a humorous presentation before the match, third-year head coach Steve Kish then played only his sophomores. Erin Bowe did what she has for most of the last two years as she paced the Lady Chiefs' attack with nine kills, three aces and 22 digs. Ellie Martin added 27 assists and 10 digs, while Kaitlyn Richter had 10 digs and three blocks, and Allison Humes added seven kills and four blocks. Faith Montalbano booked nine kills, Shayna Tucek contributed a dozen digs, Ashley Prost chipped in with seven kills, and Amber Konen added five digs in Waubonsee's final regular season home match.
