Lady Chiefs close in on ISCC title with key win over MVCC

The Lady Chiefs took a pivitol step toward the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference championship with a convincing win over perennial league power Moraine Valley Community College. Waubonsee took the opening game on the Cyclones' court 25-12, before Moraine Valley evened things with a close 25-23 victory in game two. The Lady Chiefs grabbed control of the match by winning the third game 25-19, and then finished off the Cyclones with an impressive 25-14 triumph in game four to hand Moraine Valley (4-1) its first conference loss. Waubonsee tallied 49 kills on their way to improving to 21-8 overall and staying unbeaten in ISCC play at 5-0. The Lady Chiefs still have league matches against Prairie State and Oakton remaining in their quest for the first ISCC Volleyball crown in school history. Laura Lyons sparked the Lady Chiefs' victory by recording 10 kills, 25 digs, three blocks and two aces. Ashley Prost booked 28 assists, Kaitlyn Richter registered a dozen kills, and Erin Bowe chipped in with 21 digs. Allison Humes also contributed 10 kills and made five blocks, while Shayna Tucek added 17 digs.
