Top-seeded Lady Chiefs pound Daley in opening round of NJCAA Region IV Tournament

For the second time this season the Lady Chiefs trounced Daley College out of Chicago. After a record-setting 15-1 victory over Daley back on Oct. 13, top-seeded Waubonsee again overwhelmed the Bulldogs 14-0 to begin play in the Region IV Division I Tournament. The lopsided win tied the program record for largest margin of victory, 14 goals, done four other times. It also equaled the record for largest shutout victory, done three times previously. The Lady Chiefs raced out to an 8-0 lead at halftime in coasting to the victory. Nine different players logged goals for Waubonsee, led by Haley Kilbride and Olivia Cozzoni, who each registered 'hat tricks' with three goals apiece. Elizabeth Goll had two booked her 10th and 11th goals of the season, while Ashley Darlak had a goal and had three assists. Savannah Ricker tallied a goal and four assists, Nora Castro added a goal and two assists, and Kelli Cardine contributed a goal and an assist. Mayra Patino and Ilse Ortega each netted a goal, while Andrea Binkley, Daniela Bueno, and Anne Marie Giese each were credited with an assist. For the match Waubonsee (13-3-2) out shot the Bulldogs 22-0 as the Lady Chiefs recorded their fifth shutout of the season.
