Behind Suraji's "hat trick" Chiefs pound Lynx to even record at 1-1
Opponent: Chiefs vs. Lynx
6 - 0 (W)
Waubonsee made amends for their embarassing season opening loss to Linclon Land College by routing Lincoln College 6-0 on day two of the "Kickout" Hunger Tournament in Champaign. The Chiefs immediately served notice that things would be different than their first match from the day before. Arsim Azeri scored just two minutes into the game with an assist from David Sanchez. In the 25th minute Sanchez again played a part as he assisted Akim Suraji on a second Waubonsee goal. Suraji then booked his second goal of the day with help from Azeri two minutes before halftime. However, the Chiefs were not finished as Daniel Miranda scored in the final minute of the half as Sanchez picked up his third assist. Waubonsee then made the rout official as Josue Mejia found the back of the net with just 0:05 remaining in the half to give Waubonsee a 5-0 lead at the intermission. Suraji then completed a "hat trick" by tallying his third goal of the game midway through the second half, while Sanchez was credited with his fourth assist of the match. The Chiefs (1-1) out shot the Lynx 18-7 for the game as Christian Torres recorded seven saves on his way to registering his first shutout.
