The Lady Chiefs swept through the competition to win the Black Hawk Tournament in Moline. Waubonsee downed the host school Black Hawk College, followed by Rock Valley College, Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference foe Elgin Community College, St. Ambrose University's Junior Varsity and Sauk Valley Community College in order to grab the big trophy. Erin Bowe sparked the Lady Chiefs' effort en route to being named to the All-Tournament team.

Waubonsee beat Black Hawk in their opening match of the tournament 25-18 and 25-13. Kaitlyn Richter tallied five kills and eight digs to lead the way. Ellie Martin booked 13 assists, Bowe added seven digs and Rea McGill recorded three serving aces. The Lady Chiefs then downed Rock Valley 25-16, 14-25 and 15-8. Bowe tallied seven kills and eight digs, while Martin contributed 20 assists, Katherine Daley added three blocks and Shayna Tucek chipped in with nine digs.

The Lady Chiefs coasted by Elgin 25-14 and 25-11 to improve to 3-0 for the tournament. Bowe registered a dozen kills, Martin had nine assists, McGill booked four aces and Tucek recorded 18 digs. Waubonsee later cruised past St. Ambrose's JV squad 25-8 and 25-18 to move into the tournament title match. Richter posted nine kills and four aces, Martin had 20 assists, Bowe added 13 digs and three blocks, while Tucek contributed 16 digs.

Waubonsee then captured the tournament title by outlasting Sauk Valley in three games. The Skyhawks took the first one 25-19 before the Lady Chiefs rallied to win 25-21 and 15-11 to improve to 6-1 overall on the season. Richter registered a dozen kills, Martin tallied 24 assists, Tucek contributed 12 digs and Faith Montalbano booked four blocks in the victory.
