College of Lake County
Lake County's late goal moves them past the Lady Chiefs in the ISCC standings
Opponent: Lancers at Lady Chiefs
1 - 2 (L)
The Lady Chiefs' potential Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) title aspirations took a big hit. The College of Lake County scored with nine minutes left in regulation and held on for a 2-1 victory in a key ISCC matchup. The Lancers (7-2, 3-0) dropped Waubonsee to 3-2 in league play and more than likely put the Lady Chiefs on the outside of any conference title conversations with Morton College currently in first at 3-0-1. Lake County controlled much of the action throughout the match, yet the game remained tied at one well into the second half. Christina Sommerfield tallied Waubonsee's lone goal in the first half with an assist from Andrea Garcia. However, the Lady Chiefs could manage little else on offense as the Lancers out shot them 16-5 for the game. The Lady Chiefs' defense and keeper Melissa Gallardo kept Lake County under wraps for the most part as she registered 14 saves. The Lancers had entered the match having out scored their opponents 49-0 over their previous six games. Lake County's Libbi Lindquist broke through for the game-winner after more than 80 minutes of action.
