Waubonsee completed an undefeated Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference championship season by downing Moraine Valley 4-3 on the Chiefs' pitch. The 13th-ranked Chiefs end their 2013 league slate with a perfect 7-0 mark and their second consecutive conference title. Edgar Alcanter got Waubonsee (12-1) off on the right track just three and half minutes into the contest when he scored off an assist from Diego Munoz. The Cyclones got on the scoreboard midway through the first half when a Chiefs' player accidentally knocked the ball into Waubonsee's net. The 'own goal' tied the score until Alberto Lopez booked his 12th goal of the season with an assist from Alcanter at the 12:06 mark of the first period. Moraine Valley then responded as Patryk Paprocki tied the match just four minutes later. The Cyclones then grabbed a 3-2 lead at the break as Luis Navarette scored with only 20 seconds remaining until halftime. Munoz then quickly tied the game at 3-all early in the second half when he scored off a penalty kick. The two teams went back and forth throughout the second half with Waubonsee controlling most of the action. Munoz then broke free for a one-on-one against the Cyclones' keeper with seven and a half minutes remaining. A slide tackle by the Cyclones' keeper upended Munoz and resulted in a penalty against Moraine Valley. Munoz then booked his second goal of the game and 12th of the season by knocking his penalty kick into the upper right corner of the goal as the Cyclones' keeper lunged to cover the left side of the net. Moraine Valley nearly tied the game with two minutes left, but Waubonsee keeper Jose Lopez leaped and snagged the ball amidst a crowd of players right in front of the Chiefs' goal. Waubonsee out shot the Cyclones 15-8 for the game. Norberto Sanchez recorded two saves in goal for the Chiefs in the first half, and Lopez made six saves in the second half.
