Chiefs melt in the heat, finish 6th on their home course

On a stifling hot and humid day, the Chiefs' struggled to stay focused during the fourth Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference match of the year and staggered to a sixth place finish on their home course. With the heat index reaching 98 degrees on the Blackberry Oaks Golf Course in Bristol, Waubonsee golfers carded a team total of 322 to finish one stroke behind fifth place Oakton. The College of Lake County and Moraine Valley each tallied scores of 304. The Lancers were awarded the top spot as their fifth competitor Collin Long posted an 81 to edge the Cyclones' number five man Jeff Cizek, who registered an 83. Elgin finished third, four strokes back, while Prairie State was fourth with a 319.
Matt Davis and Jackson Bailey each carded a 5-over par 77 to lead Waubonsee's contigent. Sophomore Mike Wenc recorded an 81, while Blake Huseman finished with an 87 and Blake Kauffman notched an 88. Elgin's Eric Burchfield took medalist honors by carding an even par 72, one stroke better than Lake County's David Krueger.
