Chiefs hold off Eagles in low-scoring affair
Opponent: Chiefs at Eagles
48 - 46 (W)
The Chiefs started off the 2014 portion of their season on the right track. Although they struggled offensively, the Chiefs were able to snap their six-game losing streak by holding off Benedictine University's Junior Varsity for a 48-46 victory. Ryan Suttle made one of two free throws with 0:15 remaining to give Waubonsee a two-point lead. Having been whistled for only four fouls the entire game, the Chiefs then elected to foul the Eagles to prevent them from getting off a potential game-winning three-point basket. The strategy worked as three Waubonsee fouls resulted in running the clock down to less than a second remaining. In bounding the ball from in front of their bench, Benedictine was able to get off a rushed three-point attempt from deep in the left corner that was well off the mark as the buzzer sounded. The Chiefs (6-8) were led in scoring by Josh Lynn with 14 points. Suttle finished with 10 points, Raheem Jackson grabbed 10 rebounds , and Olukayode Odunuyi added eight points in the first collegiate game of his career.
