Chiefs' struggles continue as Elmhurst JV's use their size to control the game

The Elmhurst College Junior Varsity used their superior size to dominate the Chiefs on the boards and grab a 70-52 victory. The Bluejays utilized a front line of four players 6'5 or taller to out rebound Waubonsee 56-31 for the game, including 19 on the offensive end of the floor. The Chiefs' lone big man, 6'8 Ricardo Martin, was hampered by foul trouble and finished the game with just two points and three rebounds. Elmhurst also shot 57 percent (17 of 30) from the field in the first half with nine three-point baskets to build a 44-29 halftime lead. Trailing by as many as 21 points in the second half, the Chiefs fought back to within seven points (52-45) with 11 minutes to go. However, Elmhurst responded with a 12-0 run to create plenty of breathing room down the stretch. Nick Townes led Waubonsee with 19 points including all three of the Chiefs' baskets from beyond the arc. Raheem Jackson added 13 points and four steals. Waubonsee also shot just 16 percent (3 of 19) from three-point range for the contest. Elmhurst was led by sophomore Eric Crittendon who booked 20 points, grabbed 14 boards and handed out four assists.
