The Spartans connected of four treys in the first four minutes of the game, racing out to a 17-4 lead and never relinquishing it en route to downing the Chiefs 88-79. The Chiefs, playing with only seven players due to injuries and suspensions, stayed in a zone defense throughout the first half. As a result Aurora University's Junior Varsity shot 11 of 24 from beyond the arc in the first half on the way to securing a 50-38 halftime lead. The Chiefs (5-4) got their deficit down to single digits on several occasions in the second, but the Spartans (4-0) responded each time.
Raheem Jackson and Tevin Webb each scored 19 points to lead the Chiefs in scoring. Webb also grabbed seven rebounds and handed out three assists, while Jackson snagged eight boards. Roderick Adair added 17 points and six rebounds, and Ryan Suttle chipped in with nine points and four assists in the loss. Aurora was paced by Phil Schuetz who knocked down five three-point baskets on his way to booking 23 points and grabbing seven rebounds. John Avery tallied 18 points, including four baskets from long range. Trae Babers chipped in with 17 points and seven assists, while C.J. Schutt hauled down 10 rebounds for the Spartans.
