Chiefs begin season with win over Wildcats

Waubonsee opened the season with a relatively easy 89-54 victory over the Northwestern University Club team. Tied at 8-all four minutes into the game, the Chiefs went on a 30-5 run to put the game out of reach well before halftime. Waubonsee eventually went to the locker room with a 47-28 lead. A 13-0 Chiefs run midway through the second half put Waubonsee up by 30 points (72-42). The Chiefs later grabbed their biggest lead of the game at 41 points (89-48) with 2:25 left after going on a 17-1 run. Nick Townes paced a balanced Waubonsee attack with 15 points and five rebounds. Josh McAuley added 14 points, snagged nine boards and recorded three steals. Mike Nichols chipped in with 10 points and three steals, while Raheem Jackson dished out six assists, netted nine points and made three steals. Ryan Suttle contributed seven points and six rebounds, Tevin Webb booked seven points and five boards, and Josh Lynn hauled in six rebounds in the victory. The Wildcats' Harrison Hill led all scorers with 26 points, connecting on four shots from beyond the three-point arc.
