“The Rouge (looking Southwest) – Dearborn, MI August 2011” is one of 16 selections from photographer Brad Temkin’s “Rooftop” series currently on display at Waubonsee Community College’s Sugar Grove Campus.

Waubonsee Community College’s current photography exhibit gives viewers an all-access pass to some of the best “green” rooftops in Chicago and beyond.

Selections from photographer Brad Temkin’s “Rooftop” series will be on display through Nov. 7 in the Dickson Center’s Arrowhead Room on the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The 16 photographs on display showcase the “green” roofs of some of the city’s most prestigious buildings, including the Cultural Center, City Hall and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

In his artist’s statement, Temkin explains, “The series ‘Rooftop’ suggests that through grace and ingenuity, we may be able to integrate booming urbanization with a healthier environment, and a more responsible infrastructure.”

Temkin currently teaches photography at Columbia College in Chicago. His work is included in the permanent collections of The Art Institute of Chicago, the Milwaukee Art Museum and Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Photography, among others.
