Waubonsee Community College will present “Trouble in Paradise: Tourism and Water Quality in the Yucatan Peninsula” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, in the Auditorium of the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive.

During this free event, Dr. Melissa Lenzewski, Associate Professor of Geology and Environmental Sciences at Northern Illinois University, will explain how the aquifer in that area of southeastern Mexico is threatened by tourism and why people should care.

The event is part of Waubonsee’s Asset Earth series, which explores people and the environment.

To reserve your spot, please call the college’s Community Education department at (630) 466-7900, ext. 2360.
