Right-of-Way Acquisition, Land Donation Tied to Traffic Signal Project

In order to continue progress on a project to install a traffic signal on Illinois Route 47 at the north entrance of Waubonsee Community College’s Sugar Grove Campus, the college’s board of trustees approved several measures at their meeting Wednesday.

First, Waubonsee’s board approved the process to complete the acquisition of two parcels of land on the west side of Route 47 across from the college’s Sugar Grove Campus north entrance in the name of the State of Illinois. In addition, the board approved the donation of a small parcel of land on the east side of Route 47 owned by Waubonsee to the State of Illinois and the granting of a temporary construction easement to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). These measures are necessary to accommodate the new roadway alignment that will accompany the signalization of the intersection.

Waubonsee remains committed to expediting the process to allow for the installation of the traffic signal in 2013.
